Health Financing
Financial constraints have caused many their lives. It has influence the negligence on the part of patients to seek the necessary healthcare services and this has caused the lives of many in rural communities in Ghana. The government of Ghana introduced the National Health Insurance scheme to provide an avenue for the people to seek free basic healthcare services and this has saved lives of many. However, the Health Financing initiative from Hereafter Ghana seeks to take over from where the Ghana health insurance benefits ends. This initiative supports patients that have financial constraints through crowd funding. Funds raised, either full or partial is used to pay for the medication, surgeries, scans, laboratory investigations and other expenses related to the general wellbeing and recovery of the patient in question.
With this project, we take a case at a time and move to the next only when the fundraiser for the other has come to an end, even though it is mostly on a first come first serve basis, priority is given to children and emergencies.
Patients have to apply by writing a letter to the organization for support, which will be swiftly reviewed by our volunteer medical officers and patient will be notified if the case will be taken or not. When taken, patient will be consulted by a volunteer of the organization to go through the terms and conditions together before we start a crowd funding.
The project has so far catered for 102 patients, as at August 2023 and the number continues. You can check the blog section for some cases and some success stories.
