We are honoured to have participated in a two-day workshop organized by WiLDAF Ghana on October 2nd and 3rd, 2023. The workshop focused on the Northern Region’s National Consultation on NGO Shadow Report to Ghana’s 8th and 9th Periodic Report to the UN CEDAW Committee.
During the workshop, we had discussions on various topics, including the ECOWAS Framework-Supplementary Act on Gender Equality, Ghana NGO report on CEDAW, and the African Union Framework-Maputo Protocol. We also explored the global framework on women’s rights, with a focus on non-discrimination, substantive equality, and state obligations.
Additionally, we discussed the implementation of CEDAW in Ghana and the critical area of gender and land, with a presentation by Hajia Alima Sagito from SWIDA Ghana on the progressive land Act that promotes genderequality.
